Veterinary technicians need an associate degree from an AVMA-accredited programme (Florida median $46,380); veterinary assistants train on the job or in a short clock-hour certificate ($37,830). ⚠⚠ Florida does not license veterinary technicians, and bills to change that died in 2025 and 2026, so the accredited programme and the voluntary CVT are the credentials that count.
